This month is all about getting your s#@t together!
You might think you have it all together, but trust me, you don’t.
Until you have a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, there is absolutely no way you can be 100% organized. I know – I tried to do it the ‘old fashioned’ way for years. Spreadsheets, file folders, Rolodex. I thought I had it down.
But then I got a CRM and – oh my God! – I realized that my ‘system’ was a complete mess. Once you see your entire business laid out like that right in front of you, all of your organization shortcomings become glaringly obvious.
I’m going to go over some of the reasons why investing in a CRM is vital to getting your life in order. Ready? Let’s go!
Why Is Organization SO Important?
Have you ever seen a kid rolling around with a bunch of puppies, or in a bouncy house, or in the middle of a candy store? No? Well, just imagine the absolute mayhem.
That’s what it looks like when you try to manage your business without a CRM. From the outside, it may look like everything is running smoothly . . . but once you go into that store? Holy hell. It’s a God-awful mess.
Using a CRM not only helps you organize that mess but also:
- Increases efficiency and productivity
- Helps you to delegate more effectively
- Helps you meet deadlines
Remembering Usernames and Passwords
“I always remember all of my passwords,” said no one ever.
You know how I said that a CRM could help your business run more efficiently? Remembering passwords is a BIG part of that.
Just think back to the last time someone asked you for one of your passwords. Perhaps you were having an issue with your email, so you called IT. When they asked you for your login info – Poof! – it was gone. Total blank.
Not only are those situations totally embarrassing, but they also waste a ton of time. As a busy professional, you probably have dozens of different logins and passwords you have to remember. If you store client information, you have to remember their information as well.
It's too much to remember on your own, and keeping it written down somewhere is neither efficient nor secure. A CRM is a perfect solution.
How To Organize Digitally
Passwords aren’t the only thing that can get disorganized, of course. I often meet with clients whose entire computer desktop looks like an episode of Hoarders. Let me just say – if your desktop looks like that, you’re doing it wrong.
When you don’t keep your digital files in any specific order and you can’t locate anything you’re looking for without digging around for ten minutes, it’s a huge time suck – and we both know there are better ways you could be spending your day.
This year (and, well, every year) set aside a day or two to spring clean your desktop and computer. Eliminate everything you don’t need anymore and take everything you DO need and load it into your CRM!
That’s it for this now but be sure to check back for more tips on getting organized with a CRM. You’ll be surprised at how much your business can benefit from just one piece of software!
